Our Guest Bathroom Remodel at the Williamsburg House

I’m back from another trip to Williamsburg to check on progress of our new home’s renovation.  This time, I came up to see the finished guest bathroom and pick stains for our hardwoods.  If you’ll remember, our guest bathroom is downstairs in this house. There was a bedroom across from it, but we’re making that our formal dining room.

I started with this bathroom to get the iron out. This is my first time ever hiring out a bathroom remodel. Previously, Mike and I had done all of our remodels, and with those, we learned something new every time.  Before I tackle our primary bathroom and my kids’ bathroom, I figured we should get to know the house a bit better and start with a less-used bathroom, the guest bath downstairs.

Here it is in all of its banana-yellow glory.  I’m not sure what that pendant light is doing there, but our other bathroom downstairs has one too. Maybe I should’ve kept it for Halloween because it definitely has magic sorcerer vibes.

When designing it, I wanted something that felt classic. We definitely are leaning more moody with this house, so we explored the idea of using navy blue tile, but we opted instead for white.  Eventually, we might paint this room a moody black or navy, but for now, I went with Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore for the walls.

My fixtures were gifted by my friends at Delta. I’ve used Delta in our kitchen and bathrooms in Florida and have loved their design and functionality.  My faucet is the Cassidy® Two Handle Widespread Pull Down Bathroom Faucet In Champagne Bronze. This has such a classic look, and I love the pull-down function. We have the Delta Broadmoor Faucets in Florida, and the pull-down feature makes it so easy to keep your sink clean! A must for a bathroom on the first floor that guests will use.

In the shower, I opted for the Delta Faucet Cassidy 17T Series in Champagne Bronze. I liked that this faucet gives you the ability to control the temperature and the water flow separately. I know when I’m staying somewhere, I waste water trying to figure out which way is hot and which way is cold. Just me? Can’t be! But that issue is gone with this design.  And that rain shower head? My word. It felt like a spa.

For the vanity, I wanted something with dark wood tones. Do you know how hard that is to find? I thought this vanity would be more like a mahogany, but it ended up being a chocolate brown color. (Duh, it’s the chocolate color. ) I was expecting more of a dark stained wood, but there’s no wood grain showing.  Still, the lines of it are what I wanted. I changed the knobs to some unlacquered brass knobs, and I think it really transforms the entire vanity.  I paired the knobs with this robe and towel hook, too.

The vanity light might be my favorite thing in here. It also comes in a three light option, but the two felt like enough in here. So cute and different!

I was rushed into purchasing a mirror so they could hang the light, so this one is probably just a placeholder. A gold mirror would probably look great in here, but I’ll have to nail the right type of gold.  Because I’m designing from a distance, I chose a black mirror instead and it looks great for now!

Williamsburg has so many great thrift and antique stores that I know I’ll find some great art down the line, but I do love this style of art from Target right now. The waste basket and toothbrush holder are also Target and so pretty.

In the shower, I got these refillable bottles. I love the dark amber look. They came with quite a few labels, but I chose the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash labels. Love that these make it look like I have my act together when we all know the truth….

Let’s not forget the toilet! We went with a Toto toilet. I’m especially fond of the clean lines and lack of nooks and crannies for cleaning.

Our floor is marble (gasp! Here come the trolls) and our shower wall is ceramic, zeillage-look tile. We got it from a local tile dealer. The floor is Anthology Casablanca Fortress, and the walls are Riviera White.

You can shop the entire bathroom here on my LTK!
